Product Lead (Full-Time, Remote)

We’re seeking an experienced and dynamic Product Lead to join our team.

Baymard Institute is a leading, independent web usability research institution that conducts large-scale UX research studies. We share our findings through a bespoke B2B SaaS platform that serves 17,500+ brands, agencies, researchers, and UX designers across 80+ countries—including 71% of Fortune 500 e-commerce companies.

Baymard’s product suite includes:

  • A comprehensive Research Catalog featuring 700+ UX guidelines with 200,000+ design examples.
  • Innovative AI-driven offerings, like UX-Ray website scanner.
  • A dedicated UX online learning platform.
  • Standard platform features include account management.

Baymard is a small organization: we are ~60 people in total, with 12 members in the product team, who value thoroughness, a scrappy approach, and continuous iteration. The team is 100% remote and fully distributed across America and Europe.

About the Role

The Product Lead at Baymard is a pivotal role, combining strategic leadership with hands-on individual contribution. You will be a key player in a small, impactful team, contributing directly to products that inform and empower UX professionals worldwide. We value thoroughness, continuous improvement, and a collaborative spirit. If you’re passionate about leading product development in a fast-paced, iterative environment, we encourage you to apply!

In this critical role, you will lead the conceptualization, planning, and production of Baymard’s software products, working closely with our Engineering Lead, CEO, design team, key stakeholders, and cross-functional teams like Research and Marketing. As the Product Lead, you will be responsible for the Product team and provide strategic direction while also being deeply involved in the day-to-day aspects of projects.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of our product offerings. You are entering the organization at a critical time, when we are shifting from a digital content platform (past 5 years) to more of a SaaS tool (also a UX website scanner). You will be instrumental in a collaborative environment where we prioritize shipping quickly and iterating based on user needs.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Product Strategy & Execution: Develop and maintain the product roadmap, organize and facilitate project work, and set clear priorities. This includes working with the CEO on product strategy and goals.
  • Drive Project Success: Be responsible for at least 3+ projects concurrently, making key product decisions and supporting designers and developers in organizing work within Linear.
  • Manage and Grow the Product Team: Provide support and guidance to Product team members, currently consisting of a Strategic Product Manager and 3 designers, fostering their professional growth and delivering feedback.
  • Collaborate with Engineering: Work in close partnership with the Engineering Lead and team of 6 engineers to prepare and execute projects, applying healthy pressure and setting boundaries to prevent scope creep and delays.
  • Support Stakeholder Needs: Understand and support the product needs of various departments within Baymard.
  • Embrace Agile Principles: While not strictly adhering to one methodology, you will break projects into small pieces, ship quickly, and iterate, contributing to our 2-week product cycles and quarterly roadmap planning.

Who You Are

  • Experienced Leader: 10+ years in Product Management, with a significant portion in a lead role, and a proven track record of taking projects from ideation to completion and iteration.
  • Collaborative Partner: Excellent communicator who works well with designers and engineers, and can build strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Resourceful & Adaptable: Experience working in small to medium-sized organizations that operate scrappily with limited resources.
  • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Well-organized with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Interest and experience with implementing AI to improve processes.
  • Engineering experience, understanding the technical aspects of product development.
  • Design experience, including proficiency with Figma and other design tools to communicate ideas.
  • Product copywriting experience.

Practical Details

  • Location: 100% remote, full-time position, from Europe. (Be mindful that the role requires daily overlap with product team members located in US time zones.)
  • Salary: In accordance with qualifications.
  • Start Date: Late 2025 or early 2026, but ideally as soon as possible.
  • Language: Fully proficient in written and spoken English.
  • Travel: Limited; expect only 1-3 weeks of travel each year (including the annual company retreat).
  • Company: Learn more about Baymard’s work culture and values here, or by reading the “Key Work Values” section at the end of this page. Also, consider signing up for a free Baymard account to explore our product.

Key Work Values at Baymard

The following work values are central to us at Baymard and hopefully gives you an idea of our culture and what working at Baymard is like:

Our entire team works remotely, but once a year, we all get together for a meetup. Past meetups have been in Iceland, Copenhagen, and Portugal — see a video from one of the meetups.

  • Flat organization – Baymard is a small organization of just ~50 people. This means zero management layers between you and the final decision. You’ll have direct access to and impact on decision making.
  • Lots of responsibility – From day 1 (OK, maybe day 2), you will be working on final products or services. We believe the best way to learn is to work on actual products and challenges, supplemented with rich early feedback.
  • Long-term focus – Decisions are always based on their long term impact. We’re not interested in hunting after the next “quick win” — we want to make a lasting impact on the e-commerce industry and usually adopt a 5-year perspective in our decisions and projects.
  • Remote from the ground up – 100% of the team works remotely. We’ve deliberately designed the organization around remote work. That said, we do bring the entire team together for a week once a year somewhere interesting in the world.
  • Team of ‘subject matter’ nerds – Everyone geeks out a bit on their work interests. We love that, and once a week someone from the team gets the opportunity to do a 20-minute presentation on their latest obsession — whether it’s quasi-quantum-worlds, critical thinking, or the proper usage of hyphens, en dashes, and em dashes.
  • Founders engaged in the product – We believe it is essential that those orchestrating the work of the organization are keenly in tune with all aspects of it. The two founders of Baymard have therefore performed every type of task in the organization themselves (from programming to UX testing), and continue to work directly on the product.
  • Flexible hours – Beyond ensuring availability for meetings and a few hours of daily overlap with your colleagues, you are largely free to plan your own workweek. E.g., we have some that take a 2-hour break midday and then instead work in the evening, or only work half a Tuesday and then always work half a Saturday.
  • Room for growth – We believe that everyone should be able to grow in their job — both as a professional and as a person. Therefore, each member of the team gets a clear, step-by-step overview of their progress, internal masterclasses, team summits, and more.
